Monitoring anticoagulant level "warfarin" is more important during treatment patients with blood clots legs , anticoagulant level should monitoring regularly at first 2:3 time a week untill get two normal reading ,then monitoring just every month.

They are used to determine blood clotting tendency, in the measure of warfarin dosage, and vitamin K status and liver damage. PT measures factors I (fibrinogen), II (prothrombin), V, VII, and X. It is useful with the activated partial thromboplastin time (PTT) which measures the intrinsic pathway.

Doctors use INR"International normalized ratio" test to monitor level of warfarin ,The INR measures how long it takes blood to clot.

Normal value of INR test  2:3 it is the theraputic level , if you in this range you are in safe line.

INR may be increase or decrease according to different patients as:

*INR below 2:INR below therapeutic range, this mean that the risk of clotting formation is high.
*INR above 3 : above therapeutic range , this mean the risk of bleeding is high.

Near-patient testing:

It is a test used by patient at home to monitoring  INR level
